I did phone Panasonic again today and this time they did tell me these things.

* ccds are small to make video camcorder small
* bigger then 10x zooming makes lens bigger so camcorder bigger
* gs400 will be high end competing with Sony trv950 but better
* Sonys are not as good like vx2100 is just make over on very old vx2000
* gs400 is better then Canon gl2
* if I buy gs400 in USA I will have to send camcorder to USA for service but this is okay because Panasonic
gs400 is made to last and will give no problems
* Panasonic did ask me for my address and said they will send information by mail in two to three weeks
* they said gs400 will be best camcorder in the market
