MX500 a lot of vignetting in full zoom!
It's a bad day,
today I receive my b&h order, mic adzen (work very well) ad hama hood. I try shot some scenes...BUT at max zoom I saw vignetting. So I disconnect the hood and try to shot same scene...NO difference, the mx500 even vignetting without hood. My God, I never saw that, can you explain me?Even your mx500 or 953 do this at full zoom? How I discover this: I pointed camera to a white wall, max zoom et voilą a perfect example of vignetting!!! Help! |
That's without the hood and without a filter and without any adaptor? There goes the Leica lens! Acually, I wouldn't worry about it unless it really is that bad. How is it at 8X? Any vignetting? If it's only with 10X don't use 10X.

This happens with iris closed, when I zoom in the image became darker, and the vignetting appear, it fade out unless 3x, but in my opinion there is even at wide angle. Ther's no difference between hood in and hood out, I do this test only with the original configuration...oooh I'm very sad, This happens even with your camera? I think you have a 953...

Marco,
I'm confused. By full zoom do you mean 1X zoom or 10X zoom? You should see no vignetting at any zoom with no conversion lens, even with the Hama attached. What have you on the camera when you see vignetting? |
marco i wouldn't let it bother you because i too noticed it the other day and i was actually zoomed in at the clouds and at first i noticed it quite strong but only after i put it on my computer. it only does it if the whole screen is white. don't let it bother you it wont bother anyone else and no one will notice it

Full zoom=10x, I noticed it today only with a full zoom on a uniform lighted surface...If I never noticed it before it could be all ok...I would to know if somebody have this problem with this camera, I would to be sure my camera has no malfunctions...
For guy: I have no device when I see vignetting here is my test: With the mx500 with the original hood, without any conversion lens, without any device... I zoomed to a white wall (10x) The image became darker (normal) but at the edge of mx500 lcd, I notice vignetting. If I open iris the vignetting became soften... Is that normal or my camera defective? |
Marco, I only own 1 MX300 (PAL) and 2 DVL9500 1-chip JVCs (NTSC).

Marco,
I don't think this is a problem. Shoot some video in a variety of lighting and background and see if you still see a problem. |
I checked out my test files. I can't find any vignetting on MX500 (PAL).

Yes, thanks to cheap lens.
Light fallout for lenses with large zoom ratio is common. That's why professional zoom lens fo SLR cameras are often only 3x zoom. My MX350 has 12x zoom!, but I shoot mostly in the 1x to 5x. |
Yes the vignetting appear only when you shot indoor, try this:
full zoom 10x to a white wall, you will see vignetting, I'm sure this isn't a real problem, in fact when you shot outdoor or indoor with right light,. To Yow: friday I've received my adzen mic, very very good. It's work fine, nothing compare with the built-in mic. Very useful the 2 operte mode, now I've to learn how adjust in-level to avoid distorsion... |
The Azden 990 is really value for money. Certainly not the best thing but at the extreme low price and low setup cost... :)
Beware of zooming to 10x too often, especially indoors and low light: 1. more sensitive to camera shake 2. less sensitive to focusing (lose focus fast) 3. reduced aperture, hence losing light, hence darker or more grain 4. vignetting (as you say) |
Yes...

dont happen wiht my pal beasty
|
;yeh i wonder if there is a difference between the ntsc and pal because i don't really see any problem to speak of. it only occurs when there is a bright image with only one color and how often do you get that.
