pani manual shutter /slaved aperture

Hey all

I know I can manuall set the shutter speed and fstop in the menu. I also know that when I change the shutter speed the camera automatically adjusts the aperture to the right size. so...

If I zoom in on a grey card, then adjust my shutter speed to what I want- Will the resulting aperture/fstop remain constant until I either reset the camera or readjust the shutter or will the aperture cotinually change as I film?

Quick followup- How good is the pani light meter at doing this? I have a GS100.
Thanks!!

I assume the aperture/iris opening will change, if the light changes---that includes with moving and zooming, because the light will change. Am I wrong?

I've done some research on the net...its hard when the manual is in japanese and pani manuals tend to suck anyway. LOL

There is a button called AE Lock which allows someone to keep a fixed fstop & shutter speed.
SO, I guess I could zoom in on a grey card, then set shutter to 1/60th (or whatever), wait for the Fstop to adjust automatically, and then lock it into place.

Which brings me back to question #2- Do the higher end panasonic models do a good job of calculating fstop at a given shutter speed?

You should experiment adjusting the iris opening/gain manually after you set the shutter speed.

Andrew, don't search the web. Search right here on this forum and the PDX and VX2100 forums. In your search, put in Tom Hardwick. Tom has explained this a number of times.
