GS400 and Firewire export

I'm considering the GS400, but would like to make sure if the DV Firewire function to export my edited video from the PC to the camera is an available function on the Panasonic. Needles to say the manual can be somewhat vague on the subject

I will be using Sony Vegas 5 to capture edit and export video.

Thanks

Mauricio, welcome to the DVinfo community!

DV In/Out is on all Panasonic MiniDV camcorders of late and I doubt they would leave it off of their flagship compact 3CCD.

Maybe a GS400 owner can chime in but either way you're safe as an oversight that large would have caused quite the stir on these boards.

Yes, the GS400 has both firewire and USB2 ports. I have used the firewire port to upload video to Sony Vegas 5.0 and it works great. I haven't tried USB (and don't plan to).

Oh, I see your question is about sending edited video to the camera. Yes, you can do that with Vegas and the firewire port.

Tommy and Brian thanks for you’re response.

This is definitely a plus and makes the GS400 the best candidate. I’m still reading various threads to get all the info available.

Mauricio
