The question was really for Jon Kamps, who apparently had been using DV500s at work. Reliability is a key concern for JVC products.

The DV5000 apparently replaced the DV500, if I am not wrong.

What you listed I already know, and probably a lot more things. So I was rather more interested on direct comparison of these JVC models and other DV cameras, like GL2, XL1s, GS400 and PD150/170.
