dvx100 white screen?
Are all the dvx 100's like this?
A bright sunny day,no nd filter used and you point the camera at your subject, and I am faced with a pure white lcd and viewfinder. So I switch to auto iris and auto focus in the scene file one position.Shutter off,[1/50].I still have an overexposed shot allbeit reduced from above.the camera now prompts me to use the nd filter to which I respond to 1/8,the camera prompts me to go further to 1/64.The result is finally a good clear picture as first required but is this nd filtering common in this camera or do I have a fault? Other than this I am totally pleased with this recent purchase, the dvx has so many good attributes for this price camera. |
Not only are all DVX100's like this, but PD150s, V2Ks, XL1s, GL2s....
All the higher end cameras have (and need) ND filters in bright conditions. |
As Sean notes, neutral density are fundamental, and very desirable, elements of semi-professional and professional (full-sized) video cameras.
Dual built-in ND filters are part of what you paid for with that DVX. As you get more experienced with shooting I'm sure you'll learn to appreciate them. |
