focus control
Hi guys
I bought new dvx100 about 2 weeks ago . All the controllers in the market are only for zoom control . If i use the camera in manual focus mode then how do I control focus...or is it good enough to be used in auto focus mode . The xl1 I had was terrible in auto focus which I never used in auto mode but I had the i think zr1000 focus and zoom controller and i could control both on the jib arm. I traded my xl1 for dvx100 and now i cant find a focus controller for the jib arm . Do i really need one ??? Thanks |
Manual focus is the best choice with the DVX100, as it has an excellent focus ring. Note the focus index numbers displayed on the lcd/evf.
Practice, practice. |
The DVX100 and DVX100A do not have provision for remote-control of focus. Other cameras do, specifically cameras that use the LANC protocol, but the DVX series do not.

Ah, I am sorry that I missed the "remote" portion of your question, Harish. (But I guess the answer's still the same.)

Hi
Thanks for the reply. So do I use it on auto focus on the jib arm ? since there are no choices...:((( |
If you want to use 24P or 30P, you can't use autofocus on the jib arm (even on the DVX100A, I still wouldn't recommend it, as the autofocus motor isn't responsive enough).
So you really have two choices: either use the lens at a very wide angle (which will give you basically infinite DOF and no need to focus), or use a jib arm with a focus motor on it (like a Jimmy Jib) and get the Century Optics focus ring to make the DVX compatible with the Jib's focus motor. |

thankyou guys
I will be shooting 24p so i guess have to shoot widest possible as mentioned above....thank you all again |
