might be a nice addition to my dvx.....but a replacement???
The DVC30/DVC60 both with smaller CCDs and no progressive scan (24p/30p) I'd say your DVX100 still comes out on top. By a long shot.

Hmmm, well, as I don't own a DVX100, and as I'm not THAT concerned about 16:9, I have to say that I am looking very much forward to this shouldermount prosumer cam, assuming it's construction is solid, it's VF is sharp, it's ergonomics are sound, and it has the zoom rocker up front on the lense handle...Good looking unit.

This camera would be awesome if introduced additionally with the following:

1/3" chips
full length DV tape

That camera will never be released because it would take away from both dvx but dvc200 sales...

Depending on it's low light abilities I'm still looking into it.

The DVC30 is said to have slightly better low light performance than a GL2 even though they have a similar CCD and pixel arrangement (1/4" 3CCD w/ 410k each).

If the DVC60 is identical internally to the DVC30 then you could probably expect similar results.

Looks like a neat cam but I think you're right about 1/3" CCDs as it would cut into other sales. At least its not another DVC7 or a 1/6" 3CCD. :)

you need to find ergonomic feedback on the DVC 7.. No one was happy with it..

Someone on another site pointed out that the low-dispersion lens I thought might be an improvement is also an attribute of the dvc30, so unless there are other tweaks, what Tommy has on his site re 16:9 action footage from the 30 should hold for the 60, too. Though I think I remember someone else posting some footage that looked very nice - not of bike racing or anything as action packed, however, and can't remember if it was 16:9 or not.

I also recall viewing some nice DVC30 footage but I believe it was some nature shots and they were 4:3.
