squeeze/anamorphic lens

hi everybody!

i hope someone can tell me the difference:

is the picture in squeeze mode as wide as with
the anamorphic lens(+33%)?.when i made some tests with
the squeeze mode there seem to be no difference between
normal 4:3 and squeeze when i look at what is in the picture
(left +right side).in other words:when i use the squeeze
mode and alternative the anamorphic lens, depending
on the situation, will i have with both +33% more picture left
and right?thank you for any answer!

Squeeze mode is no wider than normal 4:3 mode. You get the same width, but 25% less height; it stretches the central 75% of the CCD vertically to create an anamorphic-shaped widescreen image.

With the anamorphic adapter, it optically widens the field of view so you get 33% more image on the sides, while using the full height.

thank you barry!

in the end the picture in squeeze mode is the same like the letterbox picture but with a better resolution, because of squeezing.

No... they start with the same image. No resolution difference. Squeeze is for when you intend to display on a widescreen TV, letterbox is for when you intend to display on a 4:3 TV but want it to look like widescreen footage.
