seen a dvx for 3999 dollar/euro online: is it any good?

I have seen this cam online and I tought that the price was pretty good. It includes a wide angle lens and a extra longlife battery. What do you think about it? Can I spend my extra 1000 eurps on the whole pack?

Since you are in a european country it is not a wise idea to buy
from the states for various reasons like: NTSC versus PAL, warranty,
customs (douane!) charges TAX!!! etc. etc.

If you must buy from the states please take a look at our sponsors
because they are the best in the business and support this forum.

The lines about "high resolution" filters and lenses (?) sound like
crappy equipment to me. Not even a brand listed says enough.

Don't know about the tripod, but it doesn't look that great.

Why not simply buy in Holland? You might want to check out this
forum for info on where to buy (in Holland!):

Provid in Amsterdam sells the DVX (was 3500 euro's in October 2003,
so price should be lower these days!), as does www.globalmediapro.com

Rob, it seems Provid has upgraded their prices. I e-mailed them and the DVX-100AE now costs 4475 ex BTW, so that makes 5325,25 inc.

That is just unbelievable. Especially given the current dollar - euro
rate. I'm wondering if the price is that high everywhere here....

Hi Rob,

Prices are indeed ridicoulous!
A couple of months ago, like 4 or so, even when the XL2 was already released in the states, if you wanted to buy the XL1s in The Action Shop (in Belgium you don't have that many videographer's stores and such) it would have cost you 4200 euros! That's maybe like 5000 dollars or so!
For a cam of 3 years old!

And it's not over yet: you could buy the camera for exactly 1000 euro's less in Germany! 3200 euro's.
If I would drive to Germany (not that I have a driving license) and pick it up myself, it would still be A LOT cheaper!
BTW: it was 48 euros to send the cam from Germany to Belgium...

That's why I suggested Germany indeed. Lot cheaper there. My
friend from Belgium (you know) got a Nikon D70 there a lot cheaper
as well. Don't even want to know what an XL2 costs over here...
