AG-DVX100A Rebate Kicked up a Notch

Hi Everyone,

In celebration of the fact that this is the Summer for AG-DVX100A films, Panasonic announces the ramp up of the Proven Performance Rebate Program.

Murderball, http://www.murderballmovie.com/ ,
November, http://www.sonyclassics.com/november/site.html,
Mad Hot Ballroom, http://www.paramountclassics.com/madhot/,
9 Songs, http://films.tartanfilmsusa.com/9songs/,
Rock School, http://www.rockschoolthemovie.com/flashIndex.htm

These films are all enjoying very nice reviews. Murderball, in fact, is rumored to be an Academy Award hopeful. All of these films underline the fact that the DVX100A is a proven performer in the industry and as such we want t o help as many customers as possible make the move to the DVX100A versus any of the competition! Starting August 15th, the rebate for the DVX100A increases to $500. The Magic Bullet and DVX Book continue to be packaged with the Camera. The 5400mA battery and 10 free tapes will continue as part of this promotion.

Best regards,

Jan

This is great news, Jan. We just had a new member/film major student post here looking for a camera in the $3k range. Of course, I recommended the DVX100a as one good choice because of her intended use and budget. Now she'll get to have more money left over for support equipment.

Hi Hans,

Each country does its own marketing, so I am not sure that other countries will follow suit.

Best,

Jan

Each country has its own marketing division. Jan is the product manager for Panasonic US, so she has authority to implement rebate programs (etc) for the US. Other territories have their own divisions of Panasonic (Panasonic UK, etc) and it would be up to them to decide if they want to implement similar rebate programs.

So, Jan cannot set policy for the other divisions; if there is to be a Canadian or European rebate, etc, it would need to be decided at the local Panasonic office.

EDIT: DOH! Jan beat me to it; posted while I was typing...

DVX100a Online dealers

Jan and everyone,

What online seller of the DVX100a can you recommend as reliable, who gives you the best deal, and good warranty deals/plans?

Boyd Ostroff August 26th, 2005 04:19 PM

Dale, the only vendors we recommend here at DVinfo are our sponsors. They're hand picked for the qualities you describe. The full list is here:

http://www.dvinfo.net/sponsors/

Barry Green August 26th, 2005 06:23 PM

I've personally bought stuff from four of them -- EVS, B&H, 16x9 and ZGC. They all get superb recommendations. If you want to consider EVS, call and ask for Rush and ask for a DVInfo.net discount.

Dale Nicholson August 27th, 2005 06:04 AM

Will any of these dealers match the price of an online competitor (for the dvx100a)?
I'll email them and find out. Thanks for the list.

Barry Green August 27th, 2005 12:42 PM

If it's a legitimate quote from a legitimate, authorized dealer, then sure, you can ask them to consider price-matching.

If it's one of those outrageous quotes from one of the notorious brooklyn scam shops, then obviously nobody's going to match that, because those prices are just a bald-faced lie to deceive the unsuspecting customer.

Confused about what exactly is included with DVX100A Offer

Jan or any Panasonic online dealer:

I'm a little confused by this rebate/special offer on the DVX100A.
The Panasonic Website states that something called the DVX100A Serious Production Package includes

+Camera,
+Serious Magic DV Rack Software,
+Kata EFP Bag Extra-Roomy Production Bag$250.00,
+Panasonic CGAD54SE/1B Lithium-Ion Battery 7.2V / 5400mA Snap-On Battery

Yet on EVS and other dealer sites no mention is made of the DV Rack software or Kata bag; in fact, EVS doesn't mention the free battery or the ten free tapes that I'm hearing about (unless I'm not seeing it) . Am I hearing wrong?

I'm assuming the $500 rebate involves a form the customer fills out after purchasing the camera. As to the other freebies, what specifically will be shipped with the camera, and what will I have to request from Panasonic directly? And what that I listed above is NOT included as a freebie?

Responses appreciated.
Thanks--

Dale

Dale, this is the Serious Production Package, there are other packages but this one includes exactly what is stated there.. in addition to that with the camera you get the DVX-Book and Magic Bullet, in the box. You qualify for the $500 rebate, and then you will also recieve 10 free AMQ tapes and another 5400mA battery. The rebate program is wrapped around the camera, the Serious Production Package is just that a bundled set of things that should compliment the serious production person.

EVS has just chosen not to show the Serious Production Package. Note that it is at a different price than the camera alone.

The DVX has a street price around $3400. The Serious Production package is about $400 more on the street. The Kata Bage the DV Rack are not freebies but are products that are part of a customized package. The rebate form can be filled out electronically by going back to our wesite and clicking through to the rebate claim form hidden behind the Special Offer statement.

Hope this helps,

Jan

Thanks Jan. EVS is on my short list, so I wanted to know if they offer the Serious Package or just what exactly is included. You helped. I should probably talk with Rush at EVS too.

There are two different products being offered. The DVX by itself (which includes a whole lot of freebies) and then a special bundle called "Serious Production", which is the DVX (and all the freebies) plus some other stuff (such as the bag and Serious Magic's DV Rack program).

The DVX100A rebate package includes the $500 rebate, the DVX Book/DVD, Magic Bullet Editors software, plus a mail-in offer for free CGR-D54 battery and a box of AMQ tapes.

The Serious Production bundle is a more expensive package that includes all that plus the bag and DV Rack, etc.
