Panasonic AG-UX90 first thoughts

I am expecting to have the camera in my hands this week. I'll do the usual here in this thread, talk about likes and dislikes, post some videos and post some footage to mediafire that y'all can download and dissect in your own NLE on your own monitors. It seems to me the best way to do cameras tests is to 1.), make the footage look as good as possible, and then 2.) make some original card files / footage available.

If there is anyone in Central Texas who would like to discuss a test shoot, I'd be open to that. PM me.

Ready for some original media files from the camera? These are 5-8 second clips and is the original media card zipped up into one folder. I formatted the card before I started shooting.

I've been shooting for the past couple of weeks with the Ux90 doing theater and low light events. I've had favorable results but have found it's weakness is low light under saturated colors found in theatrical work, my 3 1/3" chip camera surprising holds up better under those circumstances. Even though the 1" sensor is 3x bigger there isn't much difference in pixel size due to the higher resolution, yielding only a modest low light improvement under standard light.

You can see how the blacks get washed out in the areas of saturated color with the UX90.

Is 24mm wide enough for real estate video (Panasonic UX90)?

Kenny Shem December 27th, 2016 10:12 AM

Re: Panasonic AG-UX90 first thoughts

I don't think ux90 can shoot at 24mm for UHD. Only 35.4mm. If you shoot in HD then will be 24.5mm.

Re: Panasonic AG-UX90 first thoughts

The easiest remedy is wide angle lens adapter. The UX90 wide angle range is similar to most eng.

Full frame dslr like the A7S is better suited for real estate walk through that and 3D cameras are starting to take over. They can automatically capture an interactive 360 view of a room. Real estate video has changed quite rapidly.
