DVX100A from B&H Photo, any experience with them?
 
Thinking about making the plunge for a DVX100A. I've never dealt with B&H though and rarely do I make 3,000.00+ purchases online so I'm obviously a bit concerned.

Anyone know any negatives about them? I need a tight turnaround time of a week or so for a road trip too.

I decided on the 100a as opposed to the 100b for the interval recording function. It's a necessity, I don't understand why they didn't squeeze it into the b-model. Great camera none the less I guess.

Any opinions on B&H or other retailer suggestions anyone?

I have been buying equipment from B&H for years now and in the last year alone I have spent over 40k. B&H is a sponsor of this board and, in my opinion, the best place to buy equipment from online. If you have a problem with your order, they fix it.....fast. EVS Video, or any sponsor of this board is also a good choice, just stay away from Broadway Photo. The only thing bad I can say about B&H is just about everytime they have a jewish holiday, I need to order something. Bad timing I guess.

I'd really like to get there in person but I'm in the Pittsburgh area and hitting the road soon in the exact opposite direction of New York.

been buying from b&h the last 2 years. (xl-1s set up, and more, you should hear my wife) with no problems. they sell what they show, and they do what they promisse.

just puchased a fs-4 batt (180min) wich did not take the charge. need the large batt for a event on saturday. send 2 e-mails, asking to put a priority on, which they did. will have my batt by friday.
exellent customer service.

I had to return something to b&h once, and it was completely painless and a full refund was issued. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars with them and I happen to think that for web ordering, they're nearly the perfect dealer.

Some people don't enjoy the telephone ordering process quite as much, but for ordering through the web it's hard to imagine how it could be better -- they have everything listed, instant access, competitive pricing, and rock solid reliability. Excellent dealer.

B&H is the *ONLY* place that we will order camera equipment from--both video and still photo equipment--because they stock damn near everything, sell at fair prices, treat you like you know what you're talking about, and above all they're HONEST.

You'd be surprised how difficult it is to find an honest camera equipment vendor.

about 1 1/2 ago when i was ready to step up to a canon xl-1s studio system, everything at ones, i could not find any retail store in the bay area, who had what i wanted.

I used to live in NY (for 16 years) and visited nearly every photo store in the city. Finally settled on always going to B&H. They're fair, honest, dependable. I don't buy from anywhere else.

Going to B+H always makes me sad. Cuz, I cant buy everything, it's like a giant toy store. hehe. i made the trip up there from Pittsburgh one time and they were closed, for like 4 days, hahaha. always check your jewish holiday schedule before going for a spur of the moment visit..

I have also spend over 10K$ at B&H. They always have what I need in stock and they double box for shipping, so you stuff arrives in one piece.

A couple of years ago my wife and I flew from home in California to New Jersey, then drove into New York. We had a full day planned in Little Italy, Times Square, The Village and Madison Avenue. As we got into NY I saw a person walk by with a B&H bag. I almost asked the driver to stop. A dinner at Babbo is good...but a visit to B&H is even more mouth watering.

I've been working with B&H for years and I've never had a problem other than the Jewish Holidays*. Everything is delivered as promised–no hidden costs, no runarounds. I've spec'd equipment for my company and 4 different NPO's–B&H has been great in each case they have delivered above and beyond. No worries.

*To be fair, B&H posts all of the Holidays they are going to be closed on their website well in advance.
