Lumix GH1 Pal and Ntsc regions

Hello:)
Technical question.
Is it possible to change region settings from PAL to NTSC (in menu of GH1 ,like in my JVC GY HD201) for record HD video???
I would like to record 720p60 in PAL region (for max slow motion effect)
Regards.
Tom

I wish it can do that but unfortunately it can't. That’s usually a feature found in expensive camcorders like the HM100 for example.

Maybe you should record in NTSC at 720 60p, then just use your NLE to convert. If I am not mistaken it's "easier" to convert from 60p into other speeds than from other possibilities.

I am not sure if the GH1 is PAL-NTSC switchable though. I think you either buy into one system. But would 50p (if you are in PAL) be that problematical at all even if you slow it down? Is that 10 units that big to be of a problem with getting a correct output?

Mel, he's not worried about a correct output since he's talking about slow motion, so in both cases you just have to slow down 50 or 60 fps to 25fps without any kind of frame skipping.

He's considering the NTSC version in PAL land because of the extra 10fps between both versions.

Yes, Jose.
Its my problem now. I used always 60fps with my Sony Ex1 to good slow motion:)
Now its clear for me - GH1 in Europe has only 720 50p.
Its bad news:(

So, it is confirmed that that 10fps difference do matter and make a difference to doing slow-mo.

Not only that, you are bound to 29:59 in video shooting in Europe, if I am not mistaken. Not a big deal I guess if you are shooting less than that, w/c is often the case if you are doing indie work.

You can always opt to get it in the USA or from some NTSC-land source.
