sorry if its a silly question.. i have little or no knowledge of DSLR format cameras or still photography.. Im planning to buy the GH1 with my girlfriend, me for video (upgrading from an old XM2) and she for stills..

She has some very old Nikkor lenses.. for example one that says on the front: NIKKOR 50mm 1:14 4429506

Is there any way these old lenses could be adapted for use with the GH1? If theres not enough info here pls tell me and i can post some pictures of the lenses..

ok great thanks.. so all those old lenses will work ok for both stills and video? obviously no AF etc but are there any issues with vignetting due to different sized formats? is there a particular aspect ratio that should be used?

35mm lenses, like the Nikkors, should not have any vignetting issues, since they were made for an image plane that is larger than the GH1's sensor. A heads up: the lenses will have a narrower field of view than if they were used on a full-frame 35mm camera. So, the 50mm Nikkor you mentioned will have a more telephoto appearance then if it were used on a 35mm camera.
Aspect ratio is not an issue. I'm using old Nikkors and Canon FD's on the GH1 and all aspect ratios work with no vignetting.
Now, using 16mm lenses with a C-mount adapter is another story. They tend to vignette a lot. But that can be cool. I just shot some footage yesterday with a 25mm Switar, which is a lens off an old Bolex 16mm camera. It vignettes like crazy, but for what I was shooting, it looked really cool!
