Thanks for the update. I had not run with me external mic and the follow focus yet. Good to know.

One small problem - if you use a Beachtek attachment for audio, or any audio attachment probably, then the audio jack is right against the focus wheel. This means you need to let the focus wheel out and add a few more silicon bands so you can get the jack in - after that it's all good.

So I finally had a need to run my follow focus and external mic at the same time, and I was able to make it work with this right angle 3.5mm to 2.5mm adaptor and a little dremel work to shave off some excess plastic:
