GH6: stabilization on the lens and in the camera?
 

Hi, I have one curiosity:
1) do you think there is a difference in video quality you get (definition, chromatism, etc), when using 2 stabilizations simultaneously 1 on the Leica 12-60mm lens and the other in the camera? Which is your thought.

It is just optical stabilization has no effect on resolution or colour quality. Dual stabilization is the way to go if available and you are shooting hand held. On a tripod it may be worth turning off if you are panning so that the stabilizer does not counter the pan motion. I tend to leave on all the time on my GH6.

Electronic stabilization is something different and I never use that on any of the GH cameras I have now. It will crop in the image so that there is available room to re frame with stabilization. On the GH6 you can even go further with Boost IS that will make the stabilized image almost look as if it is on a tripod. The one that may be useful is E stabilizer for anamorphic lenses.

You are giving me good information, thank you. But the Boost I.S. is it an optical stabilizer?
If you had to use a stabilizer while walking, in order to follow a person walking, which one would you use? I believe the electronic stabilizer is the best choice. Am I wrong? Thanks again.

Boost IS is electronic stabilizer with extra boost. I think intended to hand hold long lens. It will crop into frame to create the range of movement to stabilize. If you are walking and shooting then the lens and in body stabilizer is the one to use. Adding E stabilizer will give you a little more stabilization that will look more like you are on a gimbal with the GH6. In your case I would leave lens stabilizer on all the time it will then have the body stabilizer on too automatically. The lens stabilizer will not degrade the image.
