Adventure film shoot with HPX500 clips and info

One of my films "The Wild Adventures of Thomas England" is shooting with the HPX500.

We just wrapped our first day of shooting, and I wanted to share with you some of the footage along with some notes.

We had very large set pieces some of which you wont see in the clip below, but we found that the HPX500 handles everything we can throw at it so far.

Everything shot in 1080p 24PA, Cine D gamma.

No color correction, Sound sweetening, or score added, this is just raw from the camera then cut up.

I used a few 500w lights to do the light coming from inside the plane window, and I put some warm gel on the far window on the opposite side of the plane because it was just too much white in the scene.

I will be posting much more as the shoot goes on, we have a large battle in the woods we are filming mid July for the movie, I'll be sure to update you.

Any questions/comments welcome

Enjoy!

Looks nice. Are you going to be putting in any jostling of the camera in-post? Also, did you consider having someone waving a cucloris around outside the window to give the impression of changing angle of sun to window or clouds passing by? Just curious, I have never shot a plane scene like this one before.

Good work, thanks for sharing.

Actually the scene is the plane getting its engines warmed up, so the background isn't of them flying, its of them at the gate in the airport.

The whole conversation is being had as the plane is still boarding so the lighting wouldn't be changing since the plane isn't moving.

But yes that's what we would have done if the shot was in the air.

We will have more footage to post soon!

Gotcha, that makes sense. The shots look very good.

It's not fair......

Giuseppe,

Quite liked it, found the background behind the pilots to be unrealistic, I assume you'll do something in post with this. Will this scene be the final cut? There were a couple of cuts where the Talent wasn't quite orientated the right way for the flow of the conversation. One was in the middle and one towards the end, sorry about the vagueness, it took so long to load over my slow connection I can't zip back and get the time point. Some lighting to give a twinkle in the female Talent's eye would be nice, she has a bubbly personality in this scene.

Now, an explanation for my title.....in all of the 20 odd years I've been flying here in Australia, I've NEVER had a woman as lovely as your Talent sit beside me, I normally cop some dirty great hairy iron ore miner !!!!! ....... so, should you need a wayward Aussie to sit beside your lovely actress, please don't hesitate to contact me....I'll swim across if necessary in order to keep the costs down !!!!!!! :)

Good luck and I shall drop back here occasionally to see how you're doing.

The green screen will be removed and be replaced with an airport in background. this is not the final cut.

My Bad....

Giuseppe,

When I had a fast internet connection I revisited the clip a second time and felt like an idiot when I realized your opening scene was a Green scene......my Niece (she studies film and video at uni) and I had a laugh about me being senile..... my bad :(

I had a look at your set footage, looking forward to seeing the edited footage.

Yet another update to the film, this past weekend we shot another large chunk of the movie...

It went very well. This is the last link I will be posting of footage, after this it will be confidential until the film is complete.

Yet again, please feel free to ask any questions or comment as you wish.

This is a VERY VERY VERY rough cut of what we have shot so far. Nothing is even close to being done, but I thought I'd share what it looks like so far.
