Thinking about a PowerBook for HVX Capture?

This isn't a continuation of the thread I started about setups, this is about availability...

All the Apple retailers I've talked with are saying that no new shipments of PB's are coming in and the rumor is that production has halted as well.

Fry's electronics for example, is already showing PB's as a discontinued item and are only selling what's in stock and "B" stock (returns or exchanged items).

If you're thinking about getting a PB for capture purposes you might want to move quickly before they become very hard to get - new, that is.

That might be because the new PB's got a speed bump already (up to 1.8 & 2 Gz)
Things are actually moving quite fast

I think you're confusing the MacBook Pro with the PowerBook, John.

In fact, here's an article that talks about the processor speeds you mentioned being offered are faster than what was originally planned for the MBP:

With the release of the MacBook Pro, Apple is finished with the PowerBook lineup. Get 'em while you can.
