Crossing over to the "Dark Side"

I have been a huge Sony fan from day one, and still really enjoy there products, but I must admit, this hvx200 is impressive, I have 2 questions, in DV mode how is it compared to the little brother dvx 100 in 24p? Same? little better? I guess the problem now is finding one to buy? any recommendations? Main question though is how does it compare in DV with dvx100, looking forward to the day I post I am a new user!

Thanks
Mike

Funny, I've always considered Sony the "dark side."

I think Barry Green and perhaps a few others have reported on DV mode over at dvxuser.com. From what I've glanced with some quick reading it appears very similar, but with the added benefit of course that the HVX shoots native 16:9 or 4:3 DV whereas the DVX is native 4:3 only.

Darkside - Just say you're considering purchasing an HVX200. Sheesh. Okay, regarding your question though, the resolution is significantly better on the HVX200 DV mode vs the DVX100. I had a Canon XL2, and having compared that to the DVX100, I was disappointed in the resolution of the DVX100 by not having true progressive 16:9. I would think the HVX200 is probably the new king of DV25 res. However, I'm not sure how it compares to DV25 on the XL-H1.

Same usual thing. Panny cinegamma colors pop a little more but the H1 has incredible sharpness in SD. Both are fantastic.

Just kidding fellas, I can't stand the 3 fx1's I own and the Sony LCD Monitors, and the Sony HDTV, did I mention my dog's name is Sony? I have the Panny fever now that I saw the slo-mo and 24p look! Thanks for the responses, I will be posting more in this area as I go.

Cheers
Mike

SD 16:9 in DVCPRO50 on P2 is extremely good.
