DV Rack vs dedicated HD LCD monitor
Hello,
If DV Rack gives you the same monitor set up controls in software that a dedicated HD LCD monitor has, like the Panasonic LH1700w, does this mean a MBP or a 23" apple display connected to a HD card in a desktop with a DVI converter will be as accurate for adjusting color? Does DV Rack mitigate the advantages of the more expensive LH1700w, or will the Panosonic still be better for final color and picture adjustments? Thanks, Drew Harty |
There's no bigger DV Rack booster than I am, but in standard-def I never found the DV Rack monitor to be a replacement for a real NTSC CRT production monitor. Better than a raw computer screen, yes -- but not a replacement for a CRT.
With the HVX/high-def/digital/LCD situation, it's perhaps more comparable, I'm not sure. Tomorrow I'm shooting more segments for the Prudential infomercial, and there'll be a 17" there, perhaps I'll get a chance to side-by-side them... |
Thanks Barry,
I will be very interested in hearing how the DV Rack compares to the LH1700W. I have been condidering the purchase of the LH1700W because it can be used in the field or edit suite but only if it gives me a critical edge in monitoring and adjusting picture over the capabilities of DV Rack. Drew |
