This is way cool. Not only does it cover the features of the camera and make for a nice quick, visual reference tool but it also clearly points out the benefits of DVCPRO vs. the other HD codecs.

I'm printing this out to compliment the owners guide.

I would like to see Panasonic offer a printed hard-copy version.

I got it printed and bound locally for less than $10.00.

how come the PAL guide looks so much better than the NTSC, the pictures are all pixelated.
Any other link to get a better looking pictures in the NTSC version?

what made me laugh... shooting vertical 16:9...
hmm.. ok, if i was going to downcovert to SD, maybe but cmon.. thats NOT a reason to buy this camera..

The only place where I've seen 9x16 video is at tradeshows. They just mount the monitors on their sides.

One of the coolest tradeshow demos I've seen had three HD monitors that rotated. They must have had three synchronous rotating cameras as well - and maybe a rotating editor!

I can't remember if it was CES or NAB, but it was about four years ago...

Sideways video would be an interesting gimmick for a DVD. (Regal Cinemas might not be interested.) Just ask the consumer to turn his TV on its side - or watch the movie laying down!

vertical 16:9 may not be the reason to buy this camera, but I bought it because it rocks! I still don't believe what it is and does. I love it!

Maybe not, but I have seen it used at a restaurant in Las Vegas. The monitors hang on the wall with a picture frame around them. They look like paintings that move! It's a cool effect. For all I know, they may have shot it with the camera laying at 90 degrees knowing that it was for playback in this restaurant. All in glorious HD.

C'mon Peter, you have to push the envelope somewhere. (grin)

the differences are the available framerates within the cranking features of the cam

NTSC cannot shoot 25fps.. but it can do 24-26... the PAL model (from memory) cant shoot 60p.. only up to 50p...

Also in SD on tape, recording is done to each respective locations resolutions/Framerates

Also, Pal HVX Records the 1080 signal at the size of 1440x1080, a bit more than the 1280x1080 of NTSC.

9x16 has been good for business. It even attracted OPRAH to one of our client's booths!
