P2 to FCP then from FCP back to miniDV Tape

Is this as easy as selecting Print to Tape from FCP with my HVX200 connected to my Mac via firewire?

My present project was actually shot with a different camera but I have it in FCP as a Uncompressed 8 bit NTSC Sequence and I need to provide to client on miniDV tape. Will the above scenario work or is there more to it?

Thanks for your help.

Darrin

Yes that'll work fine. Just be sure to set the "P2/TAPE" switch to "tape" on the back of the camera and the HVX will then operate just like any DV camera; FCP can take control and output right to it.

Thanks Barry!

Uhm...the HVX-200 records to miniDV...which is the DV format. Uncompressed 8-bit will not record to DV tape. You need to drop your footage into a DV timeline and render...THEN export to tape.

Well, yeah, I figured Darrin knew that, but you're probably right to bring it up.

The output through the firewire will be DV, and recorded on the HVX as DV.

Glad you mentioned that because I honestly thought the transfer would convert the format.
