HVX/Firestore Record Issues

Trying to get the HVX to record to Firestore. Pushing record on the HVX gets the Firestore running, but when finished there is no thumbnail of the video. THere is a file on the Firestore, but no video. I've followed closely the instructions in the Focus manual and Boot Camp book.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Michael

Make certain you have the most recent firmware revision of the FS-100

I don't know if this is right or not, or what you want, but here is what I do:

Power up and setup the FireStore:

1. Right arrow 2x - Select DVCPROHD
2. Right arrow 1x - Select P2
3. Right arrow 1x - Set both date and time
4. Right arrow 1x - Set FA SYNC
5. Right arrow 1x - Format
6. Power off.

Hook up the firewire to the HVX and FS. Power up the FS, then the HVX. When I hit record on the HVX it automatically starts recording on the FS. When I'm done, I power off the HVX then the FS.

I then plug the FS into my Mac, power up the FS, and fire up FCP.

1. Right arrow 6x - Organize P2
2. Left arrow 5x - to DD DRIVE
3. Hit ENABLE

Then File->Import->Panasonic P2

Then I check out my clips. If this ain't what you want, then provide me with more detail.

Jim

PS - This is the 1st time I've ever used the FS and I have to say, it kicks ass.

Thumbnails aren't available

Once the thumbnail screen comes up you have to push the audio dub/thumbnail button on the camera. The sceen will go full screen instead of thumbnails. You then have to use the buttons on the Firestore to select the clip you want to see and then push the play button on the Firestore. The camera transport controls will not run the Firestore.
