1080i 24PA pulldown removal
 

So I've used AE's "Interpret Footage" feature and removed the extra interlace frames from my 1080i 24PA footage; the result is true 24P footage now for my 23.98 timeline in FCP. However, there is a very small scan-line artifact appearing at the very top of every 4th frame.

I can probably do trial and error with the settings to figure this out, but that will take some time; if anyone has experience with this issue and already knows what I've got wrong feel free to share! Thanks...

Just checked the original data off the cards in P2 Log's viewer, and those lines at the top are there, appearing on the frame BEFORE the interlaced pulldown frame. AE gets rid of that frame but the artifact or whatever it is remains on the frame before. So it looks like I can't get rid of it, other than cropping, but it'd still be nice to know how I'm getting this. Anyone have a stab in the dark?

Here are two frame grabs from the QT files that were created by P2 Log.

The first is fine, the second shows the strange lines at the top. I know it is miniscule, but when it appears every 4th frame it becomes slightly irritating. Interested in any theories. Thanks

I haven't noticed it yet. I'll check on the next project.

But two lines IS miniscule... I've had to zoom/crop for more than that often with miniDV and HDV (though not with the HVX).

Indeed 2 lines is not much, and I was planning on probably cropping to a wider aspect anyway; but for future reference I'd like to know what's making this happen. One of those things that will gnaw at me until I figure it out.

Unfortunately not quite, esp. if you saw my green screen footage. But that's another can of worms.

After using Chromatte (reflecmedia.com)... I never want to light another green screen again.
