Personally, all of the charts and whatnot are secondary to how it all works together. Just because this no-name DP perfers one shot over the other, does not mean it is in fact better. And, vice versa, although I thought (in every case) that the HVX image was better, it is just my personal opinion and not fact.

My issue, though, is the "why" of his article. Obviously some of these pix were staged, like a fake 'before and after' product where they Photoshop in a dent or something on a car, using the exact same image. Case in point, notice his park shots and traffic. With the park, notice that the kid's legs that are in motion, it's exactly the same shot in both. And with the traffic, the cars are also in exact proportion in both shots. He must've had four hands to run both cameras side by side?

I don't see why it would be a problem for him, as it is obvious both cameras are sitting right next to eachother (the shot of the boy running in the park scene). As a pro DP, I would think he'd already have the cameras set up and the only thing he would have to do is hit record. Those photos do show certain situations where the camera's differ, and I doubt if they are photoshopped in any way. I think it's a good little read.

I thought the test was objective. It does seem the HD100 has a slightly sharper picture. But it seems the HVX night footage is better. Barry Green did a test that also demonstrated the HVX's superioty for night shooting. The HD100 has smearing in those situations.

When you think about it, the images are pretty close. I wouldn't notice the HD100's better image unless an HVX image was placed next to it.

I thought so too, I've done test like this with 2 sometimes 3 cameras sitting right next to each other and was able to compare same exact shot,
The point here is really not to say what camera is best or worse, these are 2 good prosumer cameras using 2 different format (codec), some people might prefer JVC others Panasonic.
In my case I still prefer the picture and color rendition of the HVX.

The "which is best" argument is one that will rage long after we're all in the grave. There is no such thing as the "perfect" camera or system. Each peice of equipment has it's advantages and disadvantages; it's simply a matter of which features/functions best fit your personal shooting style or the needs of any given production.

I dont know, maybe i am not a qualified DP with all the experience in Hollywood, but on average (based on all the grabs posteed by him), i thought the HVX produces a more "film look".
