XLR Input Covers...

I just pulled this thing out of the box, and I can't pull off the xlr input covers.

Am I missing something?

It's bendable plastic. They'll come off.

Gotta take the white gloves off.

They come off, just a little freaked out about spending six grand on the day the stock market went in the tank.

Have a new post up about the gamma modes.

Thanks, and unfortunately I'm gonna have to keep my covers, but I'm sure someone will sell you some for way more money then they're worth.

When I received my DVX I kept up with the XLR covers for awhile....
When I received the HVX I pulled the XLR covers off and threw them away....

Unless your camera is going to be a studio-only rig then it's important to keep out weather and particulates from any electrical connection into the body, so keeping tabs on all your connector covers is a good idea.

One method I've seen used to prevent losing XLR covers is to punch a small hole in one end and loop brightly colored monofilament (fishing line) through the hole and around the camera handle.

good call robert

ive taken my covers off my DVX's and more than likely the HVX is identical in this regard, BUT one thing i have noticed, is that the exposed screws around the camera body do have the tendency to rust.
I shoot in all kinds of environments so somethign like this was to be expected, but i didnt think it would happen after 300 odd hours..

BetaCams never had those plastic covers....
went for 20 years without needing them,
they might serve a purpose but I would not
loose any sleep over not having them.
