Nope. But a PAL HVX200/202 could.

I came back from Seagate presentation and found out about this Seagate iDVR removable disk cartridge that provide 160GB of capacity and transferring rate of 1.5 Gbps with SATA interface (http://www.ivdr.org/iVDR/ivdr_e.html). I was talking to Seagate person about possibility to use this for direct to disk with P2 camcorders. Maybe just the matter of making cradles with rechargeable battery to use this for P2 camcorders. Me and my friend was maybe making it to do off loading clips from P2 on the road.

Ok, the CCDs in the HPX500 are the same as the SDX900 (2/3" 620,000)......but what size are they? are they native 1280X720?

"but what size are they? are they native 1280X720?"

I believe dvcpro HD format is native 1280 x 720.

Don't confuse the CCD pixels with the digital image pixels, though. They're not the same thing. CCDs are analog devices.

The HPX500, like the 1/3" HVX200, has 960x540 sensors and employs a pixel shift.

Michael Struthers April 23rd, 2007 02:55 PM

Ooops. David is absolutely correct about the CCD's.

Sorry David,

That would deliver a ccd that was only 520,000 pixels. The HPX is 620,000 pixel, 60 frame progressive CCD.

Hope that helps,

Jan

D'oh! CR told me 960x540 . . .

Jan, is there a projected date when the HPX500 will start shipping? early may?

Should be here at the end of May with 16GB cards.

Best,

Very cool! The company I work for just put in their order. It will be interesting to see how the HPX compares to our HVX.

Jan,

Do you know the price range of all of the recommended lenses listed at HPX web contents are like?

Are all of those recommended lenses new and not quite available yet because HPX associates with the chromatic abberation control scheme? That sounds really hot.

These lenses initially are only available through Panasonic as we are the only ones that have a complementary camera. They should be available at the end of this month, at least in the US.

Best,

Jan

[QUOTE=Jan Crittenden Livingston;681290]They should be available at the end of this month, at least in the US.

Kaku: But it'll probably take an additional month to ship them back to Japan (just kidding).

Jan, FYI - I ordered my camera (from Ables) and have been told that the Canon lenses probably won't show up before the end of June - which caused me to change my order to a Fujinon which, hopefully, will be here by the end of May.

Jan, thanks, now I understand why they are not listed there at lens manufacturers' site. HPX is looking really great. Because of it, I was more confident to come back to HVX200. Great job!

Right Setve, but looks like you're gonna have lots of fun. Good luck.
