With HVX200 I focus using distance readout. What about HPX500
Thanks to B. Green's HVX200 book I always focus using a laser tape measure. It seems that I cant use the same method with HPX500 or at least I dont know how to do that. I have the Canon HD 20x lens. Is it possible to still use the distance subject is from camera to focus?

Hi,
this is exactly what I was investigating for WEEKS for the pdw-f330. YES, some lenses (dont ask me about models, but I know for sure XS17x5.5) DO transfer focus and/or zoom data to the cam - but since a lot cameras cant use that data the transfer is switched off in the lens (on pro lenses there are dip switches for that). If the camera supports it , the feature can be switched on with these lenses. So when done, the pdw-f330 shows focus numbers (with xs17x5.5 and some others) in the viewfinder. Its very hard to find out what cameras support it and which lenses do. I am not sure if this is a feature supported only by sony hotshoe, perhaps you ask Canon or Fujinon directly. EDIT: I found on page 66 of the HPX manual that there are readout numbers for Zoom ("Z99") but cant find focus numbers... so I guess its not supportet... ULI |
