lots of info; thanks. The Kata Maze line has been discontinued, but there are a couple of new lines that look interesting. I'll read Walter's essay with interest.

Really? discontinued? Too bad, it is a great case. I guess there are the Palms models but when I looked at them at FilmTools, they didn't look like they had as much room as the Maze.

The idea though, it to stuff everything you need in a smaller, softsided case with casters. About 2/3 the size of the Arri hard cases, but actually holds more gear. I can't tell you how many 300 to 400lb loads I have dragged in and out of Los Angeles office buildings on my large Rock & Roller. Sandbags, C-stands, big lights, etc. I am done with that, I like the Walter method of smaller, lighter and simpler.

My latest venture will be to formulate an all LED kit with the new Cool lights LED panels with the Anton Bauer battery plate as a key source, something small like a Zylight as a hair/rim. No light stands, rigging everything up with Mafers, scissor clamps, velcro, etc. My goal is to have a full interview kit that is small enough to bring as carry on luggage that will weigh under 20lbs. It can be done, you just have to think outside the box.

The new watchwords in documentary production are smaller, lighter and simpler.

Dan
