Help: On Camera Light for GL2

I just ordered my Canon GL2 today. In the near future I will be video taping my buddies wedding and reception. What kind of on-camera light should I buy to light interviews at the reception? It will be kind of dark but not completely. I could probably get video of the interviews but it would be poor. I am looking to spend around $300 maybe more or less. I've noticed that canon has both a 3watt and 10 watt light that will connect to the top of the camera. Is 3 or 10 watts enough in low light?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

Jon,

For close work 3-5 feet, in partially lit areas (receptions) you'd be surprised at how much light the little 3 watter will provide. Best part is that you're not blinding the guests and they feel more comfortable talking freely.

Thanks for the reply. I found a post online which tells you how to build a led camera light. No real instructions but a good point in the right direction. I will post a complete how to when I finished. I ordered the LED's last night.

Thanks again.

Possible LED light you could use

http://ledmuseum.home.att.net/fusion.htm

Brighness levels:
HYPER BRIGHT: 38,600mcd
HIGH: 33,500mcd
AUTO-OFF: 28,400mcd
MEDIUM: 8,500mcd
LOW: 2,300mcd

The led lights I purchased are 8000mcd each. I was planning on using 24 leds and 48 leds depending on what level of light I need.
