Michael, glad you like the comer light. At the bottom of the light mount, there is a thread hole you can mount the light on any camera tripod too. Or you can get some mounting accessories

Tripod Mount and Desktop stand

I know about the threading at the bottom.
However I had a bad experience with using the threading.
After I used it, there was a problem with the descending screw that tightens on the cameras cold shoe. It seemed to strip a little, or it warped the spring that is inside the assembly (I took it apart to try to fix it).

As a result I can't mount the light on a clod shoe anymore, as the screw won't descend enough to tighten. So since then I am weary about threading the light onto a stand.

SOny wanted a small fortune for the small piece to replace. It wasn't worth it.

If you don't use the threading, the cold shoe plate will brake, I have 2 HVL and both of them broke on me not once but twice, the threading seems to be stronger because it is much thicker than the thin plastic cold shoe plate, I like everything about his light except for a poor design mounting shoe.

I'll take a look when I get home, but I am pretty sure that they'll match up.
Just so you know, I don't think that it's just the bottom part, but there is a small spring assembly of some kind inside which I think is the reason that the screw won't descend enough when the tightening dial is turned.

Khoi, I will have this part listed to the site for sale. I'm sending this piece to Michael to have to try first. We'll wait for his feedback later.

Or if you think this part will fix the issue, you can buy it here http://lacolorshop.com/products/item.asp?Id=cl. If you need to buy more than 1, let me know and we can work something out.

The replacement shoe works perfectly on my Sony HVL light, prompt shipping and it was very nice to do business with Taky.
Thank you very much.

Taky,

I can't get your site to come up?

Taky Cheung June 22nd, 2009 04:54 PM

Andy, I'm sorry the web hosting company seems to have problem with the SQL connections.

It is back up running now. Thanks

Taky, thanks for the replacement cold shoe for my Sony HVL light. As was mentioned earlier it fit perfectly and fixed my stripped thread problem.
