AFI 100 Best Movie Songs
Some nice interview lighting in this program. Many different tools to achieve similar effects. I think Art Garfunkle's main light was a lowel pro behind a translucent pop-up. You can't get much more basic than that.
Did you notice the 4 Kinoflos surrounding Barbara Striesand for her interview? Lots of make-up, soft lighting and mist filter. I have seen it for years now, but I can't stand the profile cutaway during interviews. This was the editing effect of the evening. |
I agree the profile cutaway is nothing new, but I thought the additional "high and wide" view that revealed the lights and cameras was a nice twist in that it wasn't just a handheld DV camera, but a locked-off, matching high-end camera.
I channel surfed on and off the show, but thought it was nicely done regardless. |
I bet Babs insisted on that particular lighting for her interview - it's not too different from the way her films are lit.

Unfortunately I only was able to tape part of the show but I have to go back and watch carefully again. On the whole I thought it was a nicely edited show. Some of the commercial blocks were intolerable though! (yeah big surprise!) |
