lighting DSLR, Question Moving Subject?
 

I am going to be shooting a promo video for a store, the owner will be walking around talking about various products. I will have a DSLR on a glidecam with a short shot gun on the DSLR. It is low budget so how could I put some light on the person? What would you do? I thought about putting a LED on my DSLR but the mic will take up the shoe.

any ideas on what I should do? I have a little budget to possibly hire someone, but what to do about a moving subject?

Your assistant could hold the light, and it would probably look a little better if it was off-axis from the camera anyway. Otherwise, there are plenty of brackets out there that will let you mount multiple things to a hot shoe. Or, you can use a wireless mike on the subject and mount the receiver via velcro to the camera plate, freeing up the shoe for the light.

Without (expensive) wireless lens controls, DSLR's are ill suited for stabilizer work of this type. You have to use particularly wide lenses and shoot stopped down and maintain a given distance from the subject to maintain focus, however when all is said and done you won't be able to take advantage of the shallow focus that is the generally favored aspect of these cameras. At that point you are probably just as well off using a decent smaller sensor camera that will give you more shooting flexibility
