Re: Manfrotto ML840H LED Light
Try searching for Z96, Amaran aputure or just search on e-bay for LED video lights. Only you can decide on the merits of any individual product. Some of the cheaper lights have a cast to them, but its managable. Some have better dimmers than others, or a wider spread. There are so many variables. All I, or anyone else can offer you is an opinion of equipment we have, and use, this may, or may not be of any relevance for your needs, or intended purpose. I did check out the Manfrotto light, but ended up buying 2 lights for less than 1 Manfrotto. they had a much better dimmer and spread, and more importantly, to me, a much cleaner light. But that is just my opinion. I suggest you do the same as anyone else, and research thouroughly before you make a purchace.

Re: Manfrotto ML840H LED Light
Hi Guys
At nearly $300 it seems you are paying for the name here!!! If you really want to venture into this price range then a Comer is probably better quality. I get outstanding results with the PowerLED lights rather than the bigger multiLED ones ..Check eBay for the 5010A video light and the newer 5080 video light ....both are awesome with a good build and priced around $75.00 which is good value for money...I have been using them (I have 3 now) for 2 years and that also last an entire wedding reception on the supplied Sony battery! Hi Chris,
The Comer is pretty small luminence area hasnt it? |
Re: Manfrotto ML840H LED Light
Hey Jalan
I don't have Comers ..mine are PowerLED lights or undisclosed originbut the 5010A and 5080 models are much the same shape as the Comer light and have very even lighting and nice and wide too...The 5080 pushes out a very impressive 1540 lumens !!! Chris |
Re: Manfrotto ML840H LED Light
This is the one?
Super Power LED 5080 Video Light DV Camera Camcorder Brand New | eBay' Price is very good |
Re: Manfrotto ML840H LED Light
Hi Jalan
That's the one exactly..I have two of the 6 LED ones which work well and Nigel Barker also has them and he found the bigger 8 LED ones . The 6 LED has an output of 1050 lumens so the extra two LEDs give an extra 500 lumens so it's very useful. I don't use the orange filter at all, just the diffuser and my cameras white balance very nicely. Chris |
Re: Manfrotto ML840H LED Light
The new feature I see in the video that I would really use is the ability if the Manfrotto LED light to strobe like a flash. That is very cool, and my Z96s won't do that.

Re: Manfrotto ML840H LED Light
wow, that 5080 light looks rather nice.
while looking for it on amazon i saw this too: a holy crap 2000lm claimed 90+cri under 100 bucks www.amazon.com/dp/B0075V9NIM/?tag=dlevi-20 the options for portable led lighting is becoming absurd |
Re: Manfrotto ML840H LED Light
Cree XML-U2's power leds at 92 CRI ?? Did I read that right 92 ???
According to Cree's specs ONLY the warm whites, not even the neutrals have a CRI of 90. The cool white U2's are in the regular 80ish category. 2000 lux won't be 2000lux when adding a warming 3200K CTO to that. Perhaps 1200 lux at best. Adding a CTO won't improve the CRI figure. |
