Problems in the studio :(

Hello there my friends,

I have a problem of colometry, i have a great set, made with white flourescent tubes. It actuallyl looks really great.

The problem now is that i put a plasma TV on the set, but in the camera it shows up really blueish .... i tried using gels, configuring the white balance, but the rest looks red, and i tried color correcting the image from the computer which transmit the video signal to the screen.

Any ideas ??

Thanks... really a lot !

You can cover the plasma sreen with a CTO gel. Just make sure that it is a clean piece. They also have gels that are made for screen. Rosco or Lee filters.

You might also check the setup on the TV to make sure it is set to the lowest possible color temperature. It won't go low enough to completely fix the problem, but it might help.

Another approach would be to swap out your florescent tubes for daylight color tubes.

another option is to gel the flourescents to match the screen

either way if the color balance is off one has to be changed

Agus,

You didn't mention what was on the plasma displays.

I work with plasmas daily and I have had the same problem. I have had two different situations:

1) The content was mine. I color corrected the content (taking out a lot of the blue) and shot my video with my color corrected content on the plasma displays.

2) The content wasn't mine but didn't have to be specific. I captured the content to an avi, color corrected it, then shot my video with the color corrected content on the plasma displays.

Photo on my Web site with three plasmas in the background. They are, however, fairly blue in this shot but they were fairly blue to begin with.
