Smoking light???
G'day,
I was shooting a wedding on the weekend and the on camera Bescor light I was using starting to smoke a little. I switched it off and let it cool down for a couple of minutes and then could use it again for about 1 minute before it starting smoking again. After repeating this for about 4-5 times the light stopped smoking at started working ok. My question is: What was happening with the light? and is the light ok to use now or is it better to replace it altogether? Thanks in advance, Troy |
Your lamp is fine. It's just some residue from the production process that is burned off in the first few minutes of use.

Thanks
Hi Tim,
Thanks for the quick response and assurance. Regards, Troy |
You can also see this when you re-lamp an instrument. It should be just a whif of smoke that generally clears quickly (less than a minute). Some folks like to wipe down new globes with a alcohol swap to help prevent this, although I have seen it even after a wipedown. Something on the base perhaps?
