it does work with the JVC thats the camera I use it on, it works amazingly well, and I will help you learn how to set it up for the JVC if you buy it. The rails I have actually come with the mount so I never had to buy the mount, but you can buy the little bracket for cheap on letusdirect.com.

If you use Cavision rods, the front mount for the mattbox is actually what the adapter can sit on.

I was told that he did look up how much it would cost to repair the XL1. He said it would cost more than $1000 - which is why he was considering buying an HV20 instead of repairing the XL1

Besides, I don't know what the market value is of the XL1. I mean, if it's $1000 to repair it but $1800 or so to sell used, I might as well just do a straight-up trade with him, fix it myself, and sell it at $1800 for a $800 profit...
