Film Making Book List
I'm not entirely new to making short movies and things, as I've been doing it for several years now. But now I'm getting deeper into it and trying to make some lengthier ones with plots. From what I've read in this forum I've made up this list of books which I think would be pretty usefull. Please give me your suggestions on the list and if you think any other ones would be usefull.
- The Five C's of Cinematography: Motion Picture Filming Techniques by Joseph V. Mascelli - Film Directing: Shot by Shot : Visualizing from Concept to Screen by Steven Katz - Matters of Light & Depth by Ross Lowell - Painting With Light by John Alton - Producing Great Sound for Digital Video SECOND EDITION By Jay Rose |
Each of the books on your list is a winner and worth the money. There are several others, as discussed in many threads here.

"Who the Devil Made It : Conversations with Legendary Film Directors" by Peter Bogdanovich.
He gets in the nuts and bolts of filmmaking with directors from the silent era, when everyone was making it up as they went. It's fun to see (and steal) some of the production ideas these guys came up with. |
Digital Moviemaking, Scott Billups. 2nd Edition.
First Time Director : How to Make Your Breakthrough Movie by Gil Bettman. |
Directing: Film Techniques and Aesthetics (3rd Edition) by Michael Rabiger.
