I know this must make me sound like a broken record because I am always recommending this book, but clearly it begins with capturing light and shadows:

"Matters Of Light And Depth" by Ross Lowell

Hello.
My choice would be " the Five C's of Cinematography" by Joseph V. Mascelli.
It covers camera angles, continuity, cutting, close-ups and composition.
