XL1S Lanc Codes

I have a programmable device I am using for the Lanc control of the XL1S. It works great in VTR mode (byte codes with 0x18 prefix), but doesn't work in the Camera mode (byte codes with a 0x28 prefix). I am guessing that the XL1S uses a different set of byte codes through the Lanc port for Camera control. Does anyone know what these are? In order of importance I am looking for the codes for the different Zoom Speeds, Focus controls, backlight, white balance and recording control. Just the zoom speed commands and a place to start checking for the other commands would be a help.

Thanks,
Rob Channell

Is it a Sony RM95 that you're using?

XL1S Lanc Codes

No. I am not using an RM95. I am using a custom built RS-232 control interface based on an Elm Electronics chip. I am using it in a automated/remote computer-controlled system and so I cannot use the RM95 or the ZR-1000 wired remotes. (There is no human present to push the button.) I have tested the standard Sony Lanc protocol codes as defined by this webpage.
http://home.t-online.de/home/mb.koenig/lanc.htm
The standard codes(Byte 0 = 0x18) work for the XL1S when it is in VTR mode. Neither the Camera special mode(Byte 0 = 0x28) nor the VTR special mode(Byte 0 = 0x38) commands have any effect. If you are using a Sony RM 95 for this interface, I can probably create the same codes using my device.

Thanks,

Very interesting application you're developing there, Robert. The XL1 service manual probably has these LANC codes; trouble is, it's hard to get.
