Quicktime with animation codec seems to work well...

Quicktime with animation codec seems to work well for most apps. If on a Mac, make sure you have a file extension for Windows users.

From an Avid standpoint, it does edit HDV natively. Although it does a great job of transcoding to the better Avid Dnxcel codec which will maintain quality in rendering and compositing.

Floris, if you go Avid, make sure your graphics card is supported by Avid. I can't remember if the GeForce is or not. I think Premiere is a little more forgiving of video card choice.

I usually build my logos,etc in photoshop in import each layer...

I think Nate was wanting to keep the file layers seperate so he could animate each layer. It seems the other app(Motion, Avid, etc.) does not know how to import the effect on the layer properly.
