Re: AF focus area box not appearing - C-100 Mk I

OK - figured it out - I had forgotten that when you display the waveform monitor it doesn't display the central focusing area. Old guy brain fart I guess.

AF focus area box not appearing - C-100 Mk I

I have an AF Canon lens on the camera and autofocus is working fine. But the little "box" in the viewfinder that shows where the camera is focusing doesn't appear. I can't remember if there's a...

Re: Audio Micing Church Choir

I use M/S rather than X/Y for most concerts - so far I've had absolutely no problem with a single coincident pair covering an orchestra of 60 - 70 musicians.I suspect if I were trying to record a...

Re: 8mm film to digital questions

You can get an inverter that will work as motor speed control for the projector. Hitachi makes some quite good ones.

Re: Audio Micing Church Choir

Hi John - Good luck!!!!!

I use M/S for about almost all my orchestral recordings - usually Omni and Figure 8 although depending on circumstances I'll use a cardioid or even a wide cardioid. Heck,...

Re: Audio Micing Church Choir

The good thing about conductors (well, one of many good things in fact) is that they somehow connive to balance the group so things sound good at the conductor's position. Whether they do it by...

Re: Recomended Mic Placement for Orchestra Recording

Yes, you're absolutely correct - there is still a few millisecond delay. The System 10 latency is spec'd at 3.8ms.which would be roughly 1/10 frame. I can live with that. Allowing for a little more...

Re: Recomended Mic Placement for Orchestra Recording

I use PluralEyes and it's worked quite well for me. I've had as many as 8 cameras running so I'll gladly use any automation that works.

Re: Recomended Mic Placement for Orchestra Recording

Yes, the lag is noticeable. Particularly when you're showing a tight close-up of a pianist's fingers on the keys. Without the perception of distance in a tight shot 3 - 4 frames is a problem. At...

Re: Recomended Mic Placement for Orchestra Recording

I'd love to be able to fly the mics, but it's a no-no since there's no over stage cabling and I'm not about to try to improvise something hanging from the chandeliers over people's heads. Having the...

Re: Recomended Mic Placement for Orchestra Recording

Now, now, now. Never said the sound is controlled by the amount of work. Remember - the long XLR that was replaced with the AT wireless was just for sync track to the cameras. All the other audio...

Re: Recomended Mic Placement for Orchestra Recording

Everything runs for the whole show - or at least as long as the batteries will last (Ha!) I do use a couple of gopros on stage and I hang an auxiliary battery with them. I TRY to start them from my...

Re: Recomended Mic Placement for Orchestra Recording

I usually put my mics on a stand about 10 feet in back of the conductor (around the 1st row of seats in the place we normally use) and fairly high - maybe a couple of feet higher than the conductors...

Re: Canon 70-200 with Ursa mini pro

I use one on my Canons and have not been using supports lately. The thing I believe you should be careful of isn't normal use, carrying it around, etc, but anything that would provide a sudden shock,...

Re: canon Eos C200 or other Cine camera for action

And there are a lot of folks (some of whom, in addition to me, also shoot digital stills and video and post here!) that still have and use large format film cameras, chemicals, enlargers, all of...

Re: Removing Acne

There are some Mocha tutorials around showing how to do this. Not sure I'd get Mocha just for this, but the AE version will probably do it.

Re: Is there a generic sliding base plate that fits Miller head?

Just a thought, since I don't have that set up - something I've occasionally done is to drill and tap an additional hole to fasten the plate and QR clamp together. If done carefully it doesn't "mess...

Thanks - I'll try the damp cloth but it may not be quite up to the task - they're really dirty!!!

I liked the camera cleaning tutorial, it's probably how my wife would do it - or maybe she'd just...

Cleaning mic bodies

I have a couple of Schoeps mic bodies that I've been using for 10 years or so. They're the brushed nickel color and they've gotten pretty dirty in all that time so I'm wondering what would be safe to...

Re: MicroSD in adapter for EXTREME reliability?

I was working in IBM's storage business when "we" came up with the microdrives although I had nothing particular to do with that particular development. Nice idea, but never really swept the market....

Re: MicroSD in adapter for EXTREME reliability?

I forgot to mention - it was 1959. Things have changed a bit in IT nearly 60 years.

Re: MicroSD in adapter for EXTREME reliability?

Hmmm. When I started out in IT a "Giant Data Device" had a few MB capacity and was about the size of two refrigerators. Physically giant sized, storage wise, not so much! 32GB is pretty "Giant Size"...
