Re: New to Live Streaming
You need a switcher and a streaming encoder. These can be the same device, or two different devices. An easy to use and cheap piece of software is OBS. It's very popular with the Twitch streaming...

Re: Im kinda late to the party,,,,Canon XL 1
The "Dazzle capture device" you mention is likely a composite to USB converter. You're actually losing a lot of quality doing this, since MiniDV is digital, and composite video is analog.

Re: Question about a broadcast tripod
The handle you saw was likely the zoom demand. They replace the end of the pan handle, and have an elbow joint that can be rotated around to fit the operator's style.
For example:...

Re: Dmx in TV studio
Yes, probably.
If you're not going to run out of addresses, then it makes sense to make each fixture separate. If all your fresnels (for example) are the same address, then you won't have...

Re: Large Hard Drives
7200 rpm decreases seek time, which is important for real-time video playback. I avoid Seagate like the plague. I have the same experience as you, the majority of dead drives I see are Seagate. I...

Techflex is my go-to. Adhesive heat shrink at the ends, and make sure to cut the Techflex with a hot-knife.

Re: Intercom for communication question
Eartec's website is a disaster.
So it looks like you have the Eartec HUB and the HUB-INT. The HUB-INT is your ClearCom interface. If you're sending your audio over Dante, it's going to be 4-wire...

Re: Nanoflash timecode cable
It's a 10-pin Hirose HR10A. This connector supports timecode, RS232, and run/stop trigger, as well as a 5 volt tally light output.

Re: XL H1s recoording options?
The XL-H1 has an HD-SDI output, so any number of external recorders would work. From the cheap Blackmagic Video Assist up to the Video Devices Pix E7. Basically anything that can take an HD-SDI input...

Absolutely! With the Teradek Bolt, you can transmit HDMI or SDI wirelessly. Simply grab another capture card, like the UltraStudio you already have, or a Magewell USB3 capture card, and set up the...

Re: Which Tripod?
Those tripods and heads aren't expensive, in the grand scheme of things.
A lot of the price of the head and sticks comes down to weight capacity, build quality, adjustability, and extra features....

Re: Gear for live streaming?
Since you already are using a laptop, I suggest using a software switcher like OBS or Wirecast. For your camera inputs, you need a capture card. My favorite is the Magewell HDMI or SDI USB3 capture...

Re: video Converter
That's an interesting issue. There's no way to set your cameras to 1080p? Also what video switcher is it that doesn't take 1080i?
The MD-HX is probably the least expensive way to do this. There's...

Barring that,...
