Re: First Impressions of the GH5

On mobile devices up to this date the best you can get for 4K/60p via the YouTube app is 1080/60p. Unlike 4K/30,25,24p which are still playable up to 1440/30,25,24p if both the screen and chipset...

Re: New Panasonic GH5 Official

Looking forward any video gear manufacturer who doesn't have the resources to focus mainly on the professional market, preferably the very high end part of it, will either have to transform...

Re: C100 MKii Newbie C log question

I'm a frequent user of the C100xx and agree with Gary that on this particular camera at least the Wide DR mode is almost always the best starting point if you can't control the lighting. Log gamma,...

Re: Anyone hearing anything about a C100 MKIII announcement yet?

The majority of my clients out there have pretty good eyes for quality though, like myself they are not that sophisticated technically and often have trouble telling differences between say, 28Mbps...

Re: Anyone hearing anything about a C100 MKIII announcement yet?

I never got it when people described how they could mix HD footage from Canon DSLRs such as the 70D, 80D, 5D Mk3 or 7D Mk2 etc. with HD footage shot with the likes of C100 Mk1 or Mk2 or C300 Mk1....

Re: Blackmagic Camera Annuncement tomorrow + Resolve news

Whatever it is I hope the company stick to the announced schedules. And once problems regarding hardware or firmware arise when the products have been on the market I hope they are quick to remedy...

Re: New Panasonic GH5 Official

Steve, Saramonic has external audio solutions that can be mounted to the bottom of the camera or on top via the cold shoe. Both have XLR input(s) with 48V phantom power. The downside is they need a...

Re: New Panasonic GH5 Official

I would make a guess right here the AF in 25p won't be the equal of that in 50p considering the way contrast detection AF works. Maybe better than the hopeless continuos AF on the GH4 but it sure...

Re: New Panasonic GH5 Official

Yes, not only is it something most professional shooters have been looking for in a compact package and at an affordable cost, it would also appeal to most knowledgeable consumer video users. The...

Re: New Panasonic GH5 Official

Problem with the Canon 70D, 80D and all the rest that have dual pixel AF in HD is that even when they nail the focus down to the millimeter the image still looks soft. It normally looks OK for...

Re: A99II is pretty great

Also as far as I know its superb AF system that combines on-sensor phase detection with another separate phase detection, non-image forming sensor works ONLY in Program Auto mode AND with the lens...

Re: New Panasonic GH5 Official

The clips graded great too using only FCPX. No Resolve, no fancy plugins and using only my imagination with no LUT. It should be one hell of a video camera.

Re: New Panasonic GH5 Official

It's good to know too that once the XLR pod is plugged in the camera's built-in analog-to-digital converter, and hopefully the preamp as well, that receives the input via the camera's 3.5mm jack can...

Re: New Panasonic GH5 Official

I also like Canon's video image but to be realistic the best you can hope for on the next 6DII or whatever is maybe a flipout screen which is a defining feature of most Canon's lower end DSLRs to...

Re: New Panasonic GH5 Official

With the exception of orchestral type classical music where more than one pieces of musical instruments are played for the recording I think 48 KHz, 16-bit LPCM would be fine. From my experience, the...

Re: New Sony AX-53 Testing

Thanks, Paul. Too bad it's just a gimmick but now we are aware it's not meant to be a slow-mo camera.

Re: New Sony AX-53 Testing

One thing I didn't try on the AX55 but should have is the 100fps (or 120fps for you) mode. Does the footage overall look the same as it does at 50/60p? I used to shoot at 1080/100p on the pocketable...

Re: New Sony AX-53 Testing

That's interesting. I have done a side by side comparison between the two cameras, AX100 abd AX55 (It's AX53 with a projector), a few times but all in 4K at which the AX100 is sharper, and has better...

Re: For the non-believers -FZ2500/2000 is out!!

One thing to keep an eye on this FZ2000/2500 whenever it comes out is the AF. The AF on the FZ1000 for me, to put it mildly, is very disappointing. Hunting proned and overall very fickle. Keeps...

Re: The C700 film

Yes, absolutely. And if I had to borrow the quote from one of the people in the clip, "stupendous" would be it. A truely great result from Canon.

Re: My Z150 just died

Did the camera get a hard knock before this test? A lot of bad things seem to have happened to your multi-ring Sony camcorders. Either you have been very unlucky or the way you use your cameras may...

Re: sot: sony a6000 / 6300 / 6500?

Assuming you are a one man band B-roll shooter like myself, another key thing to consider is the pace of the subjects you have to shoot and the preferred style of your shooting. If what you shoot is...

Re: New Sony A6500

About the colors from recent Sony cameras, I suspect there must have been some reasons or trade-offs behind those somewhat off-putting colors. Increased light sensitivity, avoidance of bleeding reds...

Re: Sony X3000 Action Cam with BOSS in 4K!

I saw the camera in a big store in Akihabara but not sure if it's Yodabashi and it was not in the "export" section where both PAL and NTSC video gear with full Engish menu was normally on sale. It...

Re: Sony X3000 Action Cam with BOSS in 4K!

In Asia I also haven't seen it on sale anywhere except Japan and only in a Japanese version. Maybe this unusually long delay has been due to parts shortage as the result of the Kumamoto earthquake?...
