Re: Setting Limiter on Sound Devices 552

Thanks Steve and Ty, just what I needed! The manual unfortunately doesn't give out much info on it. Much appreciated.

Setting Limiter on Sound Devices 552

Hey guys,

I've been having a hard time figuring out how to actually set the limiters on the SD 552. I've switched it to LINK as recommended by the manual, and I see that by default the factory...

Re: Options for wired lav into Zoom H4n

Definitely. I might try to hop over to Guitar Center and see if they have any good sales this weekend.

I do have a question, perhaps a silly one. Does anyone have any experience mixing an AT803...

Re: Options for wired lav into Zoom H4n

I thought it over, and I'm going to go with a pair of AT803's. I figure if I ever need to go wireless, I will need a nicer mic anyway, to help compensate for the signal degradation that comes with...

Re: Options for wired lav into Zoom H4n

Peter, those look pretty cool. However, for the price I think I'd be better off going with a pair of AT803b's or even the AT899's. The adapters are over $70 USD each. I appreciate you pointing them...

Re: Options for wired lav into Zoom H4n

You are probably right. Most of what I'm needing this for is more on the run and gun, one man shoot kind of set up. I do have a Behringer 12 track mixer that sounds pretty nice, I'm just trying to...

Re: Options for wired lav into Zoom H4n

Man, that's the answer I was afraid of. Thanks for the info. Another thought, would it be feasible to get a splitter for taking 2 1/8 inch lavs, and record into one track? (The 1/8 inch ext mic jack...

Re: Options for wired lav into Zoom H4n

Update:

I've been doing some more testing, trying to figure out how to record 2 1/8 inch jack lavs with an H4n. I'm puzzled.

Since I don't have the lavs yet, I've been doing my testing with a...

Options for wired lav into Zoom H4n

Hey guys,

I've been researching different options for a decent audio set up for indoor interviews. I initially thought I wanted a Hyper to use on a boom, since 2 wireless lavs were too expensive....

Cool, guys. That's probably exactly what I was looking for. Tom, I do have a question for you based on what you mentioned about record in level.

In a situation where I can't get my mic close...

Re: Oktava MK 012 vs Rode NT3

Thanks guys, for all of your input. Budget-wise, I do agree that I'm going to be best suited right now with a pair of wired lavs into my Zoom H4n. As you guys mentioned, it will be better sound any...

Re: Oktava MK 012 vs Rode NT3

Interesting stuff guys, I appreciate your honesty. I thought for sure I'd be good to go with a good hyper cardioid, as I've always heard that you shouldn't use your outdoor shotgun for indoor...

Hey guys,

I wanted to post a quick workflow of how I'm using the H4n, and make sure I'm not doing it the hard way. This following method is working fine but it seems like there would be a more...

Using a 3 band EQ on FCP, I boosted the low gain up to 8, and cut the high gain down to -6. It already sounds a lot better. It does not eliminate the hiss, but cutting back the highs does help, and...

Bob,

Any input is welcome and helpful. The NTG 2 actually can run either on AA battery, or Phantom power. I've always just used an AA battery.
