Best Offline Codec (Motion JPEG vs AIC)?

I'm cutting more and more on my MSI Wind*. This of course necessitates using off-line codecs. I have used Motion JPEG in the past but recently had a look at AIC.

Does anyone have any thoughts...

The problem is you need to open an editing application like Final Cut Pro (MAC) or Vegas (PC).
I've never got Media Express to work.

Why would you need an EDL?

EDL's are for other platforms.
Logic is an Apple Product.
Send to> SoundTrack Pro Multi-track Project. Then export from STP. Done.

Different side of things but Apple's SoundTrack Pro has an amazing room tone remover. Works by analyzing the tone, then employs phase cancellation.

Might want to look into that if you are stuck....
