I think F8 is a reasonable setting based on where I've had to be when filming the plays, usually quite a way back and with a long-ish lens setting to go with my wide shot.

Even with it set on F8....

I have them too and think they're great especially for the money. I also didn't bother with step rings, I got a 77mm for my 24-70 and 70-200, and a 58 for my 85mm lens. Just ordered a 52mm dia one...

Bryan if you want to PM me I have a hoodman going spare with an eyecuff fitted. It is glued on to a sunshade frame which fits the 5D2.
