Re: Knowing what the auto ISO is on
Don,
Our GH2's don't have the mechanical rotating shutter that "rule" came from. So the 180 degrees thing is totally meaningless as is the "religious" 1/48th second shutter speed "Holy Grail". ...

Re: Recommended SD cards
SanDisk from B&H. SanDisk is the most counterfeited brand of media card on the market so that should tell us all something. B&H is a retailer that sets the "Gold Standard" for integrity in dealing...

Re: Mini DV stalling at the start
Replying to an old post here, but...
Most of the "pitfalls" of going solid state seem to come from depending on "bargain" media. I'd "bite" the bullet and spend what it costs for GENUINE top...

Re: Stupid cheap deal on Lumix 45-200
I paid $249 plus shipping for mine (B&H) a few months ago and consider it worth EVERY PENNY of that price I paid.
But now it's at $199 thru May 5th there too.
Panasonic 45-200mm f/4-5.6 G Vario...

Re: True 24mm camcorder that's travel size
There's a new "player" on the market that may meet some of your specs. Just now appearing in the retail chain it may be in short supply for a bit.
Olympus OMD E-M5 with 12-50mm "kit" lens. the...

Re: WANTED: Most "film look" bang for the buck?
You can "dislike" it, but don't cast it aside. Selective focus (shallow zone of acceptable focus or shallow DOF) is a valid tool for isolating a subject from potentially distracting elements in the...

Re: WANTED: Most "film look" bang for the buck?
I'm in full agreement with all Seth says here and in the rest of his post. I was never in motion picture film at a professional level, I used a fair amount of 8mm (mostly Kodachrome) and some 16mm. ...

Re: Legacy zoom lens for doc work
That Lumix 14mm is so tiny it's easy to "lose" in a corner of the bag. Since you already own it, that's your best solution for in the car. I have both that and the 20mm and they are great lenses...

Re: Legacy zoom lens for doc work
Jeroen:
You're going to need wider than 24mm or even 18mm inside that car. Take the "kit" 14-42mm that came with the GH2 and shoot some footage simulating what you're going to do with a couple of...

Re: Portraits: Use GH2 or purchase 5Dmkii ?
Until someone shares that info with us or we get it in a workshop/class/article we don't know these things. I'm glad that info can help you.
In looking at the B&H description on that model it...

Re: Pretec 64GB class 16 sdxc
I wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole. Listed on newegg.com as a product from Taiwan this card is getting spotty reviews on Newegg.com. For somewhat close to the same price (Newegg's $74.99) B&H has...

Re: Portraits: Use GH2 or purchase 5Dmkii ?
Jeff, here's a bit more on lighting that should help you.
The "fill" light (from as close to the camera axis as you can manage) establishes minimum scene brightness, and should provide a "gentle...

Re: Portraits: Use GH2 or purchase 5Dmkii ?
Broad lighting in portraiture is totally different from "broad light boxes".
Imagine a vertical line from the top of the forehead, down the bridge and tip of the nose, and continuing down across...

Re: Portraits: Use GH2 or purchase 5Dmkii ?
Jeff, two things pop out at me on these. You seem to be using "broad" lighting on most, this kind of lighting will tend to draw attention to full round faces. Remember the old saying "the camera...

Re: Lenses: Panny/olympus vs Other Brands
I've been "feeling out" the Micro 4/3 concept with first an Olympus Pen e-PL1 and just got an e-P3. I don't think the Olympus body does the same oversharpening with Lumix lenses as the GH2 does, and...
