Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
OK, we'll take the points in order. Firstly I'm glad you've got the message that filters add nothing, they only take away. That 'taking away' might leave you with better images which in itself can...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
I can tell you now Carol - only use filters with this camera when you *absolutely must*. Why? Well look at it this way. If you had a 35mm lens on your SLR you could put a filter in front of it...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
Generally the better the mic's frequency response (i e the more expensive and sensitive it is) the better it will record wind noise. Switching in the wind-cut filter generally only curtails the bass...

Re: Zoom rocker, a show stopper!!
Mike, you ask, 'Did nobody test the camera before release?' and I feel this way about the NX5's top screen. Did no-one at Sony's R & D take the Z1 and ther prototype NX5 into the sunny carpark and...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
I wonder if the fact that you could hear your breathing was due to the camera recording 5.1 audio in the iA mode, Carol. In manual you can specify that the camera only uses the stereo L & R mic...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
The good thing about plugging in an external stereo mic is that you'll get stereo recordings whether you're in iA or manual recording mode. With no external mic on board you get (unnecessary, in my...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
Your description of trying to stay in your seat as the Landrover bounces around are oh so true. And the dust! Make sure you can quickly pop the 900 into a zippered bag while the dust settles.

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
That's just what I did - I connected the 900 to my 46'' LCD TV and used that as a huge viewfinder. I pointed the camera out into the garden and - while watching the TV - played with all the controls...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
Hi Carol,
What looks good on the side-screen may not be what's best on the big screen later, that's the problem you face with slowing the shutter speed and using '+5'. Generally iA will give you a...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
Carol: you've chosen well. I upgraded to this little camera about 3 months ago - from a Sony NX5. I'm sort-of joking, but the side-screen on the 800 is bigger, brighter, more colourful and has...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
Well I can tell you Tom - the moiré on the 60D has to be seen to be believed, in every single movie mode and frame rate on offer. I just cannot think how folk are using it to film weddings - I mean...

What I would object to - if I was the client receiving the DVD with its warning - was the fact that the warning told lies. Why have a lie as your opening line?

Re: Want to get a screw on ND filter
You've got to be so careful when using filters with 1/3 inch chipped camcorders because of the very short focal lengths bringing any tiny blemish on either side of the filter into the shot. So as...

When I say 'better' I really mean artier. The photographic side of you can shine using a DSLR for movies simply because the big chip and long focal lengths allow you dof control the 900 can only...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
Funnily enough Kevin, I've just finished a write-up on the stills capabilities of the SD900 vs the Canon 10D and 60D for a video mag.
Conclusions
Don't worry good people; we've all got cameras...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
Hi Kevin, yup - that's me, the wide-angle converter freak.
The 900 allows you to extend the 12x zoom up to a 20x zoom but only in the movie mode. When you shoot stills it's only a 12x zoom of...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
You're right - this 900 uses smaller than ¼" chips, so diffraction losses are a real problem and you shouldn't really use apertures smaller than f/4 - and certainly not at the wide-angle end of the...

Re: The Panasonic TM900 Users Thread
This 900 is such an interesting camera. I've come up with some surprising results.
When it's used as a stills camera the aperture readout of the iris (in manual) is actually correct. 'Open' is...

Re: Lens advice
Hey Edward - I ended up with exactly the same two lenses for my 60D - the Tokina 11- 16 and 50 - 135, both f.2.8. Love them, but there's a bit of a gap between 16 and 50 that I fill with my Signa 15...

Re: The little SD900 astounds me
I know what you mean Colin but I beg to differ. This little gem of a camera is so good, so cheap, so small, so light, so sharp, so clever - I feel it's unfair to say 'I wish it also did this and...
